Taxonomy to classify types of software licences
stijn.goedertier@...
Hi all,
I would like to bring to your attention that the AMDS.SW Working Group has released 9 software taxonomies under an open licence with multilingual labels in 7 languages. These taxonomies [3] include: Licence Type, Intended Audience, Natural Language, Operating System, Programming Language,Status, Topic, User Interface / Graphical Environment, and Publisher Type.
I think especially the Licence Type taxonomy could be of particular interest to the SPDX community. The taxonomies can be viewed on this web page:
https://joinup.ec.europa.eu/svn/adms_foss/amds_sw_taxonomies/ADMS_SW_v1.00_Taxonomies.html
and can be downloaded here:
https://joinup.ec.europa.eu/asset/adms_foss/release/release100
The taxonomies are represented in a machine readable format: the SKOS standard of W3C. The majority of these taxonomies were originally made available in March 2012 by SourceForge under CC BY 3.0 [2]. We hope that the use of common taxonomies to categorise software will contribute to making software better searchable on the Web.
with kind regards,
Stijn
