Hi James,
We are not so hierarchical - Tom and Mark can provide plenty of info given your time frame!
As for a later webinar for MCLE credit, I'm happy to assist with that. Perhaps we can touch base after tomorrow's call to that end.

JiLayne,
Could you coordinate with Tom and Mark about your active participation, please? I'd love to include you and your perspective, especially since you are co-lead and that is only fair. We can also think about how to create a presentation for a later webinar that would delve deeper into the legal issues presented in your project, in order to gain the benefit of MCLE credit. Please also send me a bio-blurb as soon as you can.
Best,
James

Thanks to Tom and Mark for volunteering. And thanks James for reaching out. You have certainly not violated any "rules" of the mailing list- this is a workgroup organized in the open source spirit!
I will try to join the call as well (although you are well-covered by Tom and Mark!)

Thank you, Tom, for jumping in! I just now received an email from Mark Gisi offering his participation so, Mark, that would be great. Tom can start and then I can turn to you (or you can interject) with explanations of how a user uses the material.
Could someone also send me a few bullet points or a paragraph explaining the project so that I can include it in an email to a few of the stalwarts who attend the call during summer months? (Actually, I think that Mark just provided it.)
Also, if you wish to participate in the Licensing IG "All Hands" monthly conference call tomorrow (Wednesday) at noon, you can use the following. You do not have to be a member of the California Bar IP Section and you do not have to be a lawyer to participate but the bi-weekly Inevitable Disclosures includes the information to participate in the call. The number, etc., is:
As for these conference call:
We try to make the calls as brief and direct and informal as possible for the first part and then for those who really love administrative stuff, that is at the end (coordinating webinars, etc.). We want it to be as much a "conversation" as possible. Thus, from time to time we have a "featured speaker" (which is what SPDX people would be tomorrow) to talk 10-20 minutes and then I start with "hot topics" and "oddities" and encourage others to raise their own points and, as well, questions they might have. Sometimes, participants do not want to speak so they send me their questions or alerts and I throw them in.
In addition, some of "us" (from the IG) have created a website for licensing--or more precisely, for people whose jobs (law jobs or otherwise) involve licensing law to some degree or another. Please note that it is NOT an official site of The State Bar or of the Licensing IG. It is very clunky and relatively new and we are understaffed to bring it to a higher level of quality, but it is a start.
If you want to have access to it then please email me; if you want to be able to change it, lease let me know. We are happy to include your project in whatever manner you deem appropriate, whether merely by a link or something more substantive.
We are always looking for volunteers to participate with the Licensing IG and we will spread the word to get our "members" to work on your project.
On that note, I apologize if sending this email violates the letter and spirit of the SPDX project list. I do think it is a legitimate means of getting you exposure (and more participants) but I certainly understand the position of those of you on the list who would nonetheless find that my emails run afoul of proper use. Once I am connected with the appropriate "leaders" or other contacts of your project then I will direct future emails only as specified.
Thanks,
James

I am James C. Roberts and the Chair of the Licensing Interest Group of the IP Section of the State Bar. I am writing now to see if anyone would be interested in discussing your project tomorrow at noon on a conference call of the IG--15-20 minutes--and also if you would be interested in doing a webinar for the section sometime later in the year (depending on whether or not it would be eligible for MCLE credit). Fair warning: The call tomorrow might be to only a few people because it is summer. We could do it both tomorow and next month, if that works for you. In any event, let me know! James C.
